PHAETHON Partners Gather in Denmark for 6th Teaming Project Meeting

The Consortium Partners convened in Denmark for the 6th PHAETHON Teaming Project Meeting on 11–12 June 2026, hosted by one of the Project’s Advanced Partners, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), at its Risø Campus.
Bringing together representatives from the University of Cyprus (UCY), the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the University of Groningen (UG), Cyprus Seeds (CS), and PHAETHON, the two-day meeting provided an important opportunity to review progress, discuss strategic priorities, and coordinate the next steps in the ongoing development of the PHAETHON Centre of Excellence.
The meeting commenced with opening remarks by the PHAETHON Project Coordinator, Prof. George E. Georghiou (UCY), who thanked the Consortium Partners for their continued dedication and valuable contributions to the project. He highlighted the significant progress achieved to date and emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum as PHAETHON continues its transformation into a leading Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence in intelligent, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions.
Over the course of the meeting, the partners reviewed progress across all project activities, focusing on key developments related to capacity building, research excellence, innovation, education and training, research infrastructure, dissemination, and long-term sustainability. The discussions provided an opportunity to assess achievements, identify priorities, and align efforts for the forthcoming project period.
A series of dedicated workshops further enriched the programme, addressing topics of strategic importance to the project, including training activities, innovation and exploitation actions, and preparations for the project’s upcoming 2nd Periodic Review. These sessions enabled the Consortium to further refine its plans and strengthen collaboration across the various work streams.
The meeting concluded with discussions on the way forward and the next milestones for the Consortium, reaffirming the shared commitment of all partners to advancing the PHAETHON Centre of Excellence and maximising its long-term impact on Cyprus’ energy research and innovation ecosystem.
Following the conclusion of the project meeting, the PHAETHON Steering Committee convened to discuss strategic matters and future priorities as the project enters its next phase.
As PHAETHON continues to build on its achievements, the 6th Project Meeting once again demonstrated the strength of the Consortium partnership and its collective commitment to fostering excellence in research, innovation, education, and sustainable energy solutions.
