The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Cyprus invites students, researchers and industry professionals to a guest lecture on “Real-World Renewable Energy Systems and Their Integration into Buildings” by Professor Andreas K. Athienitis of Concordia University, Canada, a member of PHAETHON’s International Advisory Board.
The lecture is offered as part of the Renewable Energy Technologies course. All are welcome to join.
Date: Thursday, 5 November 2026
Time: 18:00–19:30 (Cyprus time, EET)
Venue: Lecture Theatre POL10-B101 “Andreas Alexandrou”, University of Cyprus
ABOUT
The presentation will focus on three topics: the Varennes Library net-zero energy building, the West 5 solar community, and applications of photovoltaic/thermal systems to institutional buildings and solar homes. It will emphasise the integration of solar systems with HVAC systems and energy storage, including thermal storage and batteries, predictive control of the integrated systems, and appropriate modelling at the different design stages.
