PHAETHON Connects Research with the Public at European Researchers’ Night 2026

PHAETHON CoE welcomed visitors of all ages to explore its research through interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities, and conversations with researchers, as part of the 20th anniversary edition of European Researchers’ Night in Cyprus.

PHAETHON CoE participated in European Researchers’ Night 2026, held on Friday, 25 September, at the Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia, joining researchers and research organisations from across Cyprus in this annual celebration of science and innovation.

The 2026 edition marked 20 years of European Researchers’ Night in Cyprus, celebrating two decades of bringing research and innovation closer to society.

Throughout the day, PHAETHONITES welcomed a diverse audience, from a succession of school groups in the morning to families, professionals, policymakers, and members of the wider public in the afternoon. Visitors engaged with the team at PHAETHON’s booth in Hall A and a dedicated interactive station just outside Hall B.

Exploring PHAETHON’s Research

Through practical activities, demonstrations, and conversations with researchers, visitors had the opportunity to discover more about PHAETHON’s work across four key research areas:

☀️ Renewable energy sources

🔋 Energy storage systems

⚡ Smart grids

🏘️ Energy communities

The activities provided an opportunity for PHAETHONITES to share their expertise, answer questions, and bring different aspects of the Centre’s research to life for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

A Thank You to Everyone Involved

PHAETHON CoE would like to thank everyone who visited its spaces and all the PHAETHONITES who contributed their time, expertise, and enthusiasm throughout the day, including the technical team, whose support with transporting and setting up the equipment helped make the participation possible.

The Centre also extends its thanks to the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) for organising the Cyprus edition of European Researchers’ Night over the past 20 years, and for the valuable collaboration that made PHAETHON’s participation possible.

PHAETHON’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to making research accessible and engaging, strengthening connections between science and society, and contributing to a sustainable energy future.
