The Renewable Energy Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, operation, maintenance, and testing of laboratory equipment and renewable energy systems at PHAETHON Centre of Excellence. The successful candidate will assist researchers and engineers in delivering high-quality testing, research, and technical services while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of laboratory facilities.
Reporting
The Renewable Energy Laboratory Technician reports to the Infrastructure and Engineering Director
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory & Technical Support
- Install, operate and maintain laboratory equipment and testing facilities.
- Assist with the setup and execution of laboratory experiments and testing procedures.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained and operating safely.
Renewable Energy Systems
- Install, inspect and maintain photovoltaic (PV) systems and other renewable energy installations.
- Assist with electrical testing, commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
Research Support
- Support research projects through prototype installation, equipment setup and technical assistance.
- Collect and record technical measurements and testing data.
- Assist engineers and researchers during laboratory and field experiments.
Health & Safety
- Follow laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Ensure technical workspaces remain clean, organised and compliant with safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Technical School qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems or a related field.
- Electrical Installer Licence issued by the Electromechanical Services Department (EMS) is mandatory.
- Valid Category B driving licence.
- Good knowledge of Greek and basic knowledge of English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with photovoltaic systems or renewable energy technologies.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and electrical testing.
- Knowledge of electrical installations and troubleshooting.

Employment Terms
A one (1) year full-time fixed-term employment contract will be offered, including a six (6) month probation period, with the possibility of renewal subject to organisational needs, funding availability, and satisfactory performance.
